Aftertaste of Sham Shui Po with public transportation
Description
Experience the extraordinary in the most ordinary of places as you wander through Sham Shui Po, a district that truly captures the essence of Hong Kong. This local area is steeped in history and brimming with bustling bazaars, hawker stalls, and an assortment of DIY tools. But it's not just about the tangible goods; the district also offers a taste of the charismatic local lifestyle. One of the highlights of this district is Mei Ho House, built in 1954. As the only remaining Mark I H-shaped resettlement block in the community, it stands as a testament to the evolution of public housing and folklife. Now serving as a Youth Hostel and Museum, it provides a glimpse into the past. The street markets are another must-see, providing an authentic market experience right in the heart of the urban neighbourhood. The streets are lined with shops selling everything from toys and fabrics to gadgets and mobile accessories. It's a treasure trove waiting to be explored, with notable routes including Fuk Wing Street-Toy Street, Yu Chau Street-Bead Street & Apliu Street-Electronics Street. But no visit to Sham Shui Po would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights. Michelin-starred restaurants and food stores are scattered throughout the district, offering mouthwateringly good street food. Start your gastronomic journey with succulent dim sum, egg tart, beancurd pudding and soybean milk.
