Copenhagen on foot and Tivoli park
Description
Protected by walls throughout the Middle Ages, Copenhagen contains its highlights within short walking distance, so a stroll through the old city streets will bring you up close to its rich culture. A great mix of historic monuments and modern landmarks gives Copenhagen an eclectic personality where tradition and innovation provide the basis for residents to thrive and enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the world. On this tour, the guide will take you on a carefully designed walking route around the old town to discover all of the highlights and the stories behind them. Start from Absalon Statue, the founder of Copenhagen, then Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament and the Royal Reception Rooms, for a closed outside view where the most formal events take place, the Old Stock Exchange from the 17th century. Walk toward the Kings New Square where the Royal Theatre, the elegant D'Ánglaterre Hotel, and the French embassy are located right next to the colorful canal of Nyhavn. From there you will walk along the waterfront by the imposing Playhouse and the modern Opera House, two of the newest landmarks on the Copenhagen harbor, arriving at Amalienborg Palace, the official residence of the Danish Royal Family, an elegant complex under the watchful eyes of the royal guard. From there you will see the beautiful Marble Church, and if the time allows, you will pass next to Rosenborg Castle and its majestic garden to end at the City Hall Square.
