St. Pauls Cathedral Ticket

Description

Dedicated to Paul the Apostle, there has been a Cathedral on the same site since 604 AD, created in its present form by Sir Christopher Wren in the 17th century after the Great Fire of London. Dominating the London skyline for 300 years, St Pauls Cathedral has seen many historic events including the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, and is the final resting place for multiple prominent figures from history including Admiral Lord Nelson, and Sir Christopher Wren himself. Walk under the instantly recognisable Dome which stands at 365 metres, one for every day of the year, notice that the floor plan of the entire building is in the shape of a cross, and just marvel at the stunning feat of engineering and architecture. Wander through the Golden Gallery, The Stone Gallery and ‘Great Paul’, the 16 ½ tonne bell in the South West tower. New exhibition coming soon - St Paul’s, the Monarch and the Changing World (25th May 2022 to mid-December 2022) June 2022 sees the historic celebration of HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, including a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral. To mark this unique event, our exhibition St Paul’s, the Monarch and the Changing World explores the grand ceremonial occasions held at the Cathedral to commemorate the Royal Jubilees of four British monarchs: George III, Victoria, George V and Elizabeth II. These Jubilee celebrations weave a thread of continuity through the social, political and technological changes in Britain over the past 200 years, and this fascinating exhibition introduces each monarch, their world, and the important part St Paul’s played in them all. With a wealth of material from our archives, we will tell these rich stories alongside photographs, prints and paintings, and treasures from our collection including remarkable, historic vestments for these magnificent occasions. Access to the exhibition is free with sightseeing admission and it will be located at The Crypt.
