Day Tour of Nyoirinji Frog Temple, Beppu and Yufuin from Fukuoka
Description
Embark on a journey from the heart of Fukuoka. Skilled drivers and knowledgeable tour guides will ensure you have an unforgettable trip. Your first stop is the Nyorinji Temple, also known as the Frog Temple. This intriguing name stems from an ancient Chinese belief that frogs were divine messengers. The temple's abbot once returned from China with jade frogs, sparking a tradition that led to the creation of over 5,000 frog sculptures in various shapes throughout the temple grounds. This unusual feature has turned the temple into a popular local tourist attraction. Next, you'll visit Beppu, a city renowned for its thriving hot spring industry. With more than 200 public hot springs, Beppu boasts some of the most abundant and rich thermal waters in the world. Here, you'll have the opportunity to try Hell Steaming - a local culinary specialty (at your own expense). This cooking method utilises the high-temperature steam from the hot springs to preserve the natural flavours of the ingredients to the fullest extent. Finally, your journey takes you to Yufuin, a town that beautifully blends Japanese fantasy aesthetics reminiscent of Ghibli with British countryside charm. As another famous hot spring resort in Kyushu, Yufuin offers a tranquil town environment and invigorating open-air baths. These features create an irresistible allure that keeps visitors coming back for more.
