DEEP PATAGONIA: ROUTES 40 AND 41

Operational notes: Day 3: Boat trip to Marble Chapel is subject to weather conditions. Day 1 Buenos Aires. D Arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, we make a panoramic tour of the city. We start at Plaza de Mayo, witness to the most important events of the country since 1810. Then, continue towards La Boca and finish at Palermo and Recoleta. In the evening, we attend a dinner show to appreciate the magnetism of tango. Day 2 Buenos Aires / Los Antiguos. B L Transfer to the airport to board the flight to Comodoro Rivadavia. After arrival, we begin the trip to our first stop, the Petrified Forest José Ormachea, where we do a hike by a path, which helps us to understand more about the characteristic of this Petrified Forest. Then, continue towards Los Antiguos, located next to the Coast of the Buenos Aires Lake, the largest one in South America after Titicaca Lake. Travelled distance: 490 km (304 miles) Travel time: 7/8 hours Day 3 Los Antiguos / Marble Chapels / Los Antiguos. B L Today we cross the border into Chile in order to reach Chile Chico. Once we finish with the migratory process, we begin to border the General Carreras Lake by a mountain road. As we move forward, we pass through the Andean forest and then reach a bay, where we embark to sail to the curious formation known as the Marble Chapels. This natural monument, formed by water erosion, features three mineral formations: the Marble Cathedral, the Marble Chapel and the Marble Cave. During the boat trip, we have the chance to access some of their corners. Finally, we have lunch (box lunch) before returning to Los Antiguos. Travelled distance: 490 km (304 miles) Travel time: 9/10 hours Day 4 Los Antiguos / Zeballos route / Posadas Lake. B L This day we will travel along Route 41, one of the most beautiful routes in the entire Patagonia, which connects the town of Los Antiguos with Lago Posadas and is the gate to some of the most beautiful Argentinian Patagonia Park’s landscapes. We start from Lago Buenos Aires at 220 M.A.S.L and start ascending to the top of the plateau at 1500 MASL in order to go through four well-differentiated environments: steppe, Andean forest, high grassland and the high mountain. This journey lead us to a beautiful viewpoint of the impressive Monte San Lorenzo (3.706 mts – 12.158 ft.). Then, descend to the valleys of Posadas and Pueyrredón Lakes. After lunch at some panoramic point, explore the Jurassic Coast of Lago Posadas, Arco de Piedra, Cueva del Puma, the dry lagoons of different colours and the Isthmus which separates Posadas Lake from Pueyrredón Lake. Travelled distance: 159 km (99 miles) Travel time: 8/9 hours Day 5 Posadas Lake / Estancia la Angostura. B L D Early in the morning, departure from Lago Posadas towards “el Cañadón del Río Pinturas” and visit the main archaeological site of Patagonia, declared World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1999, "Cuevas de las Manos". After a guided archaeological tour through its walkway, we return to the visitor centre where we have lunch. After lunch we visit the "Tierra de Colores" trail, where we take a 1 hour walk through unique landscapes. At the end of the walk, we continue towards Gobernador Gregores to spend the night at an authentic Estancia Patagonica, located in a unique area next to the mythical route 40. Total Distance: 332 Km (200 miles) Travel time: 9/10 hours in excursion. Day 6 Estancia La Angostura / El Chaltén. B L In the morning we will visit the surroundings of the estancia to enjoy the countryside and at the indicated time we will continue to the national capital of trekking: El Chalten. Total Distance: 390 Km (242 miles) Travel time: 7 hours Day 7 El Chaltén. B L Today we spend our day walking along one of the emblematic paths of El Chaltén: Laguna Los Tres: A tour through impressive landscapes and forests to reach the base of the mythical Cerro Fitz Roy; visiting lagoons of different shades, imposing glaciers and world famous climbers' camps. Level of demand: Medium - High Hiking time: 8/9 hours Day 8 El Chaltén / El Calafate. B L Before departing to El Calafate we do a must-see trek where we rach an incredible view of the Cerro Torre massif, Cordón Adela, Cerro Solo and its different glaciers. Level of demand: Medium Hiking time: 7/8 hours At the end of the day, transfer to El Calafate, arrival and accommodation. Travelled distance: to El Calafate: 217 km (134 miles) Travel time: 3/4 hours. Day 9 El Calafate. B Visit to the Perito Moreno Glacier, within Los Glaciares National Park, declared a Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO. During the tour, a stroll along the walkways located in front of the glacier provides views from different perspectives. The visit can be enhanced by a one-hour boat trip (optional), which allows to get a better dimension of the height of its peaks and walls. Free time for lunch (not included). Day 10 El Calafate. B Day at leisure to take optional tours. Depending on your interests, we suggest you take a look to the different options we prepared for you. Day 11 El Calafate / Buenos Aires. B At due time, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival, reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Day 12 Buenos Aires. B Time at leisure until the transfer to the airport, to board your scheduled flight.

- Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Student and senior (60+) pricing requires valid ID at the time of booking and on the day of travel.

Amendments & Cancellations
- Amendments to this booking can be made by contacting us at least 96 hours before the departure date.
- Cancellation notice must be received at least 1 week before departure, otherwise a 100% cancellation charge applies.
- Theatre tickets, dining products, and overnight tours cannot be amended or cancelled unless otherwise stated at the time of booking.
- For health or pandemic-related cancellations, options may include a travel credit voucher, rebooking on flexible dates, or a full refund, subject to the specific product's conditions.
- If you miss a coach tour through no fault of 1860 Travels, no refund will be issued; a discounted rebooking rate may be offered as a gesture of goodwill.
Refunds & Compensation
- If a venue cannot be visited during the tour due to unforeseen circumstances, a partial refund of the admission value may be issued at our discretion.
- No refund is given for non-operational air conditioning or washroom facilities on an assigned vehicle.
- Refund requests cannot be accepted more than 30 days after the tour's completion.
- Approved refunds are processed within 15–20 working days via the original payment method.
- Third-party tours where 1860 Travels acts as an agent are non-refundable and subject to the supplier's own terms.
Payment
- Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise specified.
- We accept Visa and MasterCard and charge no service fee, though your card issuer may apply its own charges.
- Customer payments are held in a dedicated client money trust account until your booking is completed or cancelled.
