EL CHALTÉN
Description
SEASON: OCTOBER - APRIL Operational notes: Day 2: The Laguna Torre trek is considered of medium difficulty. If you prefer, it can be replaced by Laguna Los Tres: a trek through impressive landscapes and forests that takes you to the base of the mythical Cerro Fitz Roy. To keep in mind: If you return late in the afternoon on day 3, we suggest you take Laguna Torre this day, leaving day 2 for another full day hike. Day 1 El Calafate / El Chaltén. Depart from El Calafate and take the mythic Route 40 which leads us to El Chaltén, at the foothills of the Mount Fitz Roy, the national capital of trekking. Reception and accommodation. Depending on the arrival time, we suggest a short walk that allows you to access important panoramic points or discover the exciting history and challenges of Andrea Madsen, a Danish pioneer who established the first house in El Chalten. Day 2 El Chaltén. B Today we spend the day walking along one of the emblematic paths of El Chaltén, Laguna Torre. From El Chalten we take the Laguna Torre trail and after a small slope we enter a small forest of ñires. From there, the trail begins to gain altitude and after an hour of walking we arrive at the viewpoint of Cerro Torre, where we take a short break while enjoying the magnificent panoramic view of the granite massif of Torre and its glaciers. We continue walking to finally reach the lagoon where we usually see amazing ice floes product of detachments from the front of the Torre glacier. After a break for lunch, we return to El Chaltén in the afternoon. Day 3 El Chaltén / El Calafate. B Morning at leisure. At due time, transfer to El Calafate. Notes: The Laguna Torre excursion includes entry to Los Glaciares National Park - El Chaltén. Private services Transfer from El Calafate to El Chaltén and back to El Calafate with a guide. Regular services Door-to-door transfer. Departure from El Calafate at 07:30. Return from El Chaltén at 16:30. This does not include a stop at the airport. If arriving or departing through El Calafate Airport, please check the schedule. The Laguna Torre excursion does not include hotel pick-up. Passengers must go to a meeting point in the center of El Chaltén.
