TREKKING: FROM THE PUNA TO THE JUNGLE

SEASON: NOVEMBER - MARCH Operational note: Day 1: The tour starts on Saturdays. To keep in mind: • Activity with a minimum of 3 passengers. • The Semi Full Camp is set up upon the group's arrival with double-occupancy igloo-type tents. It includes a dining tent or lounge with tables, benches, and complete tableware. It does not include sleeping bags or insulating mats. • Recommended equipment: Trekking boots, trekking poles, backpack (60 liters or more), sleeping bag (at least -20°C). Day 1 Salta / Quebrada de Humahuaca / Tilcara. Departure from Salta to the Humahuaca´s Gorge. After entering the province of Jujuy, we start to go across the impressive Humahuaca´s Gorge until we arrive at Tilcara, where we stay. Time at leisure in order to walk around, being able to visit the ruins of Pucara. From the Puna to the Jungle, we propose the crossing of a very extensive region of enormous mountains and deep valleys, with communities that are only possible to be acceded by foot. The route begins in the very same Humahuaca’s Gorge; moreover, this tour offers you histories, places, experiences and people you won’t forget Maximum altitude: 2352 MASL Day 2 Tilcara / Veranada de Yutos Pampa. B L D Early morning, we take a local transfer to “Alfacito” (2900 MASL). There we will begin our on foot crossing, with a slow and incessant ascent - we have to be careful about acclimatizing- up to reach Campo Laguna (4200 m OSL). This is the highest point of the crossing. After lunch, we will descent to Yutos Pampa at 3200 MASL. Trekking duration: 8/9 hours Maximum altitude: 3350 MASL Day 3 Yutos Pampa Grazing Outpost / Molulo. B L D We continue our crossing, ascending until the top of the Mount Cumbre Grande. At the end of the valley, the crowded forest can be appreciated. In the afternoon, we arrive to the Molulo’s community at 2950 MASL. Trekking duration: 6/7 hours Maximum altitude: 3350 MASL Day 4 Molulo / Abra del Potrero. B L D We will have a peaceful and plenty-of-time morning to meet the local inhabitants and go around the area. After lunch, we will continue with our crossing. Gradually, you would notice the increase of vegetation; we will arrive then, to a place known as Abra Potrero. Trekking duration: 4/5 hours Maximum altitude: MASL Day 5 Abra Del Potrero / San Lucas. B L D We continue our adventure from the Abra of the Potrero (lowest point between two mountains). The thick forest gives birth to plain landscape. From the red land comes the first trees. After undertaking a section of forest in continuous ascension, we get to see the caserío of San Lucas, located at 2500 meters of high. Later, we slowly start the descent back to the town. Trekking duration: 5/6 hours Maximum altitude: 2500 MASL Day 6 San Lucas / Calilegua / Salta. B Last stage of the crossing between San Lucas and San Francisco. The path continues by the southern bank of San Lucas River, the vegetation is dense and the valley is deep. After crossing Grande Valley, we will ascent to Peña Alta, which is the end of our long walk. There a local transfer is waiting for us, to lead us through the small town of San Francisco and the whole Calilegua National Park arriving to Liberator San Martín Village. From there, we will go to Salta. Walking city tour. Trekking duration: 5/6 hours. Maximum altitude: 1900 MASL

Pricing, Inclusions & Exclusions
  • Prices are per person unless stated otherwise, and may change at any time until your booking confirmation is issued.
  • The Inclusions and Exclusions listed on this page are specific to this tour — anything not listed under Inclusions is excluded from the price.
  • Prices exclude local taxes, charges, gratuities, food and beverages, and transfers unless expressly stated otherwise. Gratuities are entirely at your discretion.
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Student and senior (60+) pricing requires valid ID at the time of booking and on the day of travel.
  • Group tariffs may be available for parties of 10 or more — contact us for a quote.
Amendments & Cancellations
  • Amendments to this booking can be made by contacting us at least 96 hours before the departure date.
  • Cancellation notice must be received at least 1 week before departure, otherwise a 100% cancellation charge applies.
  • Theatre tickets, dining products, and overnight tours cannot be amended or cancelled unless otherwise stated at the time of booking.
  • For health or pandemic-related cancellations, options may include a travel credit voucher, rebooking on flexible dates, or a full refund, subject to the specific product's conditions.
  • If you miss a coach tour through no fault of 1860 Travels, no refund will be issued; a discounted rebooking rate may be offered as a gesture of goodwill.
Refunds & Compensation
  • If a venue cannot be visited during the tour due to unforeseen circumstances, a partial refund of the admission value may be issued at our discretion.
  • No refund is given for non-operational air conditioning or washroom facilities on an assigned vehicle.
  • Refund requests cannot be accepted more than 30 days after the tour's completion.
  • Approved refunds are processed within 15–20 working days via the original payment method.
  • Third-party tours where 1860 Travels acts as an agent are non-refundable and subject to the supplier's own terms.
Payment
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise specified.
  • We accept Visa and MasterCard and charge no service fee, though your card issuer may apply its own charges.
  • Customer payments are held in a dedicated client money trust account until your booking is completed or cancelled.
