Operational notes: Day 1: Arrival before 2PM is required The High Mountain Museum is closed on Mondays. Due to the closure of Cabildo (TUE) and Mercado de San Miguel (SUN), the points of interest to visit will be modified. Day 3: The Vine and Wine Museum closes on Mondays. Day 5: The Pucara de Tilcara closes on Mondays. Day 6: Purmamarca- Atacama Bus operates MON/WED/FRI/SUN Day 9: Atacama/ Salta Bus operates from MON-SAT To keep in mind: • During the rainy season, DEC-MAR. The tour may be affected. • Due to the characteristics of the Puna, we recommend that people with respiratory, heart or blood pressure diseases take special care Day 1 Salta. Arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, we do a walking tour where we discover the city. The visit includes the MAAM (High Mountain Archeological Museum) which is in charge of conserving the ‘Children of Llullaillaco’, one of the most important archeological discoveries in the last decades. Maximum altitude: 1152 MASL (3.779 ft.) Day 2 Salta / Cafayate. B We depart for a tour around the Calchaquíes Valleys. We pass by Del Obispo Slope, Tin Tin Straight, Los Cardones National Park, Cachi and De Las Flechas Gorge. Arrival at Cafayate. Total travelled distance: 320 km (199 miles) Travel time: 12 hours Maximum altitude: 3348 MASL (10.984 ft.) Day 3 Cafayate / Salta. B In the morning, we visit the town. After lunch (not included) departure to Salta, passing by De Las Conchas Gorge. Total travelled distance: 197 km (122 miles) Travel time: 8 hours Maximum altitude: 1683 MASL (5.521 ft) Day 4 Salta / Purmamarca. B We depart travelling along Del Toro Gorge to discover San Antonio de los Cobres. Then, continue through the Puna to Salinas Grandes Salt Flat and Purmamarca, located next to De los Siete Colores Hill. Total travelled distance: 320 km (198 miles) Travel time: 10 hours Maximum altitude: 4170 MASL (13.681 ft.) Day 5 Purmamarca. B Today we explore the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, visiting: Tilcara with its Pucara, Uquia and Humahuaca, from where we reach the incredible mountain range of El Hornocal, also called Cerro de los 14 Colores, whose viewpoint is at 4350 meters above sea level. Return to Purmamarca. Total travelled distance: 183 km (113 miles) Travel time: 9 hours Maximum altitude: 4350 MASL (14.271 ft.) Day 6 Purmamarca / San Pedro de Atacama. B Early in the morning, departure towards Paso de Jama in order to continue to San Pedro de Atacama. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Time at leisure. Maximum altitude: 4400 MASL (16.608 ft.) Day 7 San Pedro de Atacama. B Today we get to know Atacama the Salt Flats and Chaxa Lagoon, which is part of Los Flamencos National Reserve. In the afternoon, enjoy a beautiful sunset at De la Luna Valley. Maximum altitude: 2500 MASL (8.300 ft.) Day 8 San Pedro de Atacama. B Early in the morning, departure to El Tatio Geysers, the highest geothermal field in the world where we witness the steam fumaroles activity produced by the high temperatures of its craters. Maximum altitude: 4320 MASL (13.944 ft.) Day 9 San Pedro de Atacama / Salta. B At due time, return to Salta. Maximum altitude: 2447 MASL (8.028 ft.) Day 10 Salta. B Transfer to the airport. Notes: Private arrival transfers with a guide. Departure transfers without a guide. Day 1: The Walking Tour is not available on Sundays due to the closure of the Mercado San Miguel and on Mondays due to the closure of the Museo de Alta Montaña. If only these days are available, the tour will be replaced by a classic private visit. Day 7: The visit to the Atacama Salt Flat (Salar de Atacama) is a private service with a guide. Private Service: Includes transfer to the meeting point of the walking city tour for passengers staying more than 500 meters from the starting point. The transfer from Purmamarca to San Pedro de Atacama is private with a guide. Regular Service: The transfer to the meeting point for the walking tour is at the passenger's expense. The transfer from Purmamarca to San Pedro de Atacama to Salta is by regular bus. Andesmar: Purmamarca to San Pedro de Atacama: 03:20 AM. Daily service. San Pedro de Atacama to Salta: 07:00 AM. Daily service. Pullman Bus. Purmamarca to San Pedro de Atacama: 08:30 AM. Operates on MON/WED/FRI. San Pedro de Atacama to Salta: 08:30 AM. Daily service. Pricing, Inclusions & Exclusions
  • Prices are per person unless stated otherwise, and may change at any time until your booking confirmation is issued.
  • The Inclusions and Exclusions listed on this page are specific to this tour — anything not listed under Inclusions is excluded from the price.
  • Prices exclude local taxes, charges, gratuities, food and beverages, and transfers unless expressly stated otherwise. Gratuities are entirely at your discretion.
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Student and senior (60+) pricing requires valid ID at the time of booking and on the day of travel.
  • Group tariffs may be available for parties of 10 or more — contact us for a quote.
Amendments & Cancellations
  • Amendments to this booking can be made by contacting us at least 96 hours before the departure date.
  • Cancellation notice must be received at least 1 week before departure, otherwise a 100% cancellation charge applies.
  • Theatre tickets, dining products, and overnight tours cannot be amended or cancelled unless otherwise stated at the time of booking.
  • For health or pandemic-related cancellations, options may include a travel credit voucher, rebooking on flexible dates, or a full refund, subject to the specific product's conditions.
  • If you miss a coach tour through no fault of 1860 Travels, no refund will be issued; a discounted rebooking rate may be offered as a gesture of goodwill.
Refunds & Compensation
  • If a venue cannot be visited during the tour due to unforeseen circumstances, a partial refund of the admission value may be issued at our discretion.
  • No refund is given for non-operational air conditioning or washroom facilities on an assigned vehicle.
  • Refund requests cannot be accepted more than 30 days after the tour's completion.
  • Approved refunds are processed within 15–20 working days via the original payment method.
  • Third-party tours where 1860 Travels acts as an agent are non-refundable and subject to the supplier's own terms.
Payment
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise specified.
  • We accept Visa and MasterCard and charge no service fee, though your card issuer may apply its own charges.
  • Customer payments are held in a dedicated client money trust account until your booking is completed or cancelled.
