Operational notes: Day 1: Arrival is required before 2 pm. The High Mountain Museum is closed on Mondays. Due to the closure of Cabildo (TUE) and Mercado de San Miguel (SUN), the points of interest to visit will be modified. Day 2: The Vine and Wine Museum closes on Mondays. Day 3: The Pucara de Tilcara is closed on Mondays To keep in mind: • During the rainy season, DEC-MAR. The route may be affected. • Due to the altitude, atmospheric pressure and reduction of oxygen of the Puna, we recommend that people with respiratory, cardiac or pressure diseases, take special care. Day 1 Salta. Arrival and reception at Salta’s airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, the city of Salta awaits us to discover it by a walk through its streets, churches and colonial buildings. On the way, we visit the MAAM (High Mountain Archeology Museum), responsible for spreading and preserving the ‘Children of Llullaillaco’, one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the last decades. Maximum altitude: 1152 MASL (3.779 ft.) Day 2 Salta. B Today we visit De Las Conchas Gorge, with its curious formations such as the Amphitheatre and the Devil´s Throat, produced by the erosion of wind and water. Arrival at Cafayate, city tour and visit to the museum. Total distance: 390 km (242 miles) Travel time: 12 hours Maximum altitude: 1683 MASL (5521 ft.) Day 3 Salta / Purmamarca. B Early in the morning, we depart towards Del Toro Gorge in order to discover San Antonio de los Cobres town. After lunch (not included), we continue through the Puna up to Salinas Grandes, then descend through De Lipan Gorge to Purmamarca, at the foot of (De los Siete Colores Hill). Total distance: 320 km (199 miles) Travel time: 10/11 hours Maximum altitude: 4170 MASL (13.681 ft.) Day 4 Purmamarca / Iruya. B D Our journey continues to the town of Tilcara, Huacalera, and as we cross the Tropic of Capricorn, we can see the colors of the hill called the Pollera de la Colla. We stop in Uquia to visit its church, the oldest of the Quebrada and finally we arrive to Humahuaca with its important Cathedral and the Independence Monument. Once we leave Humahuaca, we continue by a detour passing through the town of Iturbe and the Abra del Condor (3900 masl) arriving at the mouth of a small creek where this small town, Iruya, of pre-Hispanic origin, is located. Total distance: 165 km (102 miles) Travel time: 8 hours Maximum altitude: 4000 MASL (13.123 ft.) Day 5 Iruya / Salta. B In the morning, we start our return trip and once we reach Humahuaca we take a detour that brings us closer to the incredible El Hornocal mountain range, also called Cerro de los 14 Colores, whose viewpoint is at 4350 meters above sea level. On the way back to Salta, the afternoon sun gives us beautiful views, especially the Paleta del Pintor, which frames the town of Maimará. Arrival. Total distance: 325 km (201 miles) Travel time: 10 hours Maximum altitude: 4350 MASL (14.271 ft.) Day 6 Salta. B Morning at leisure. At due time, transfer to the airport. Maximum altitude: 1152 MASL (3.780 ft.) Notes: Private entry transfers with guide. Exit transfer without guide. Day 1: The Walking tour is not available on Sundays due to the closure of Mercado San Miguel and Mondays due to the closure of the Museo de Alta Montaña. If only these days are available, it will be replaced by a private classic visit. Day 3 to 5: Allowed baggage. Only one carry-on suitcase is allowed on all trips that stay overnight outside the city of Salta. Private Service Includes transfer to the meeting point of the walking city tour for passengers staying more than 500 meters from the starting point. Regular Service Transfer to the meeting point for the walking tour is the responsibility of the passenger.

Pricing, Inclusions & Exclusions
- Prices are per person unless stated otherwise, and may change at any time until your booking confirmation is issued.
- The Inclusions and Exclusions listed on this page are specific to this tour — anything not listed under Inclusions is excluded from the price.
- Prices exclude local taxes, charges, gratuities, food and beverages, and transfers unless expressly stated otherwise. Gratuities are entirely at your discretion.
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Student and senior (60+) pricing requires valid ID at the time of booking and on the day of travel.
- Group tariffs may be available for parties of 10 or more — contact us for a quote.
Amendments & Cancellations
- Amendments to this booking can be made by contacting us at least 96 hours before the departure date.
- Cancellation notice must be received at least 1 week before departure, otherwise a 100% cancellation charge applies.
- Theatre tickets, dining products, and overnight tours cannot be amended or cancelled unless otherwise stated at the time of booking.
- For health or pandemic-related cancellations, options may include a travel credit voucher, rebooking on flexible dates, or a full refund, subject to the specific product's conditions.
- If you miss a coach tour through no fault of 1860 Travels, no refund will be issued; a discounted rebooking rate may be offered as a gesture of goodwill.
Refunds & Compensation
- If a venue cannot be visited during the tour due to unforeseen circumstances, a partial refund of the admission value may be issued at our discretion.
- No refund is given for non-operational air conditioning or washroom facilities on an assigned vehicle.
- Refund requests cannot be accepted more than 30 days after the tour's completion.
- Approved refunds are processed within 15–20 working days via the original payment method.
- Third-party tours where 1860 Travels acts as an agent are non-refundable and subject to the supplier's own terms.
Payment
- Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise specified.
- We accept Visa and MasterCard and charge no service fee, though your card issuer may apply its own charges.
- Customer payments are held in a dedicated client money trust account until your booking is completed or cancelled.
