HIKING AT EL CHALTÉN

SEASON: NOVEMBER - MARCH Operational note: Day 2: Minitrekking has restrictions, please consult them. Day 1 El Calafate. Arrival in El Calafate, assistance and transfer to the selected hotel. Day 2 El Calafate. B L Early in the morning we depart to Los Glaciares National Park to embark on the adventure of walking on the Perito Moreno Glacier where we can appreciate a variety of ice formations such as crevasses, sinkholes and small lagoons. At the end we visit the footbridges to get a different perspective. Day 3 El Calafate / El Chalten. B L We leave El Calafate to head towards La Leona Petrified Forest and Paleontological Site, declared a "Protected Area" by UNESCO. It was here that an archaeological expedition found the largest dinosaur skeleton ever discovered. At the end of the day we continue to El Chalten. Day 4 El Chalten. B L Today we will walk along one of the less travelled trails of the Park, to access a 360° viewpoint from where we can appreciate the valleys of Fitz Roy, Torre y Toro, the Patagonian steppe and the gigantic Lake Viedma. Duration: 7/8 hours Distance: 21 km (13 miles) Slope: 850 meters Day 5 El Chaltén / C. Poincenot. B L D After breakfast we start a hike through a Lengas forest that takes us to Laguna Torre where we can observe its glacier and Cerro Torre. After lunch we start the hike to Poincenot Camp passing by the mother & daughter lakes. Duration: 7/8 hours Distance: 20 km (12 miles) Slope: 400 meters Day 6 C. Poincenot / C. Piedra del Fraile. B L D A trekking through impressive landscapes and forests that takes us to the base of the mythical Cerro Fitz Roy; we will visit lagoons of different tonalities, imposing glaciers and world famous climbers' camps. Duration: 7/8 hours Distance: 18 km (18 miles) Slope: 400 meters Day 7 Piedra El Fraile / Puesto Cagliero. B L D After breakfast we walk along the Eléctrico Valley towards the Pollone Glacier to appreciate the glacier and a landscape framed by rock walls with orange, ochre and red tones that make you feel as if you were in a huge amphitheater. We descend along the same path to reach the Huemules Reserve where we will see the green and blue lagoon until we reach the Cagliero Refuge. Duration: 7/8 hours Distance: 20km (12 miles) Slope: 400 meters Day 8 Puesto Cagliero / El Chalten. B L D Today we start trekking to Loma del Diablo hill. During the trek we will see the views of the Fitz Roy, Torre, Marconi, Pollone and other mountains. Arriving at the summit of Loma del Diablo we have lunch and then we start the descent and return to Chalten. Duration: 7/8 hours Distance: 20km (12 miles) Slope: 400 meters Day 9 El Chalten / El Calafate. B At the indicated time, transfer to El Calafate airport to board your flight.

Pricing, Inclusions & Exclusions
- Prices are per person unless stated otherwise, and may change at any time until your booking confirmation is issued.
- The Inclusions and Exclusions listed on this page are specific to this tour — anything not listed under Inclusions is excluded from the price.
- Prices exclude local taxes, charges, gratuities, food and beverages, and transfers unless expressly stated otherwise. Gratuities are entirely at your discretion.
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Student and senior (60+) pricing requires valid ID at the time of booking and on the day of travel.
- Group tariffs may be available for parties of 10 or more — contact us for a quote.
Amendments & Cancellations
- Amendments to this booking can be made by contacting us at least 96 hours before the departure date.
- Cancellation notice must be received at least 1 week before departure, otherwise a 100% cancellation charge applies.
- Theatre tickets, dining products, and overnight tours cannot be amended or cancelled unless otherwise stated at the time of booking.
- For health or pandemic-related cancellations, options may include a travel credit voucher, rebooking on flexible dates, or a full refund, subject to the specific product's conditions.
- If you miss a coach tour through no fault of 1860 Travels, no refund will be issued; a discounted rebooking rate may be offered as a gesture of goodwill.
Refunds & Compensation
- If a venue cannot be visited during the tour due to unforeseen circumstances, a partial refund of the admission value may be issued at our discretion.
- No refund is given for non-operational air conditioning or washroom facilities on an assigned vehicle.
- Refund requests cannot be accepted more than 30 days after the tour's completion.
- Approved refunds are processed within 15–20 working days via the original payment method.
- Third-party tours where 1860 Travels acts as an agent are non-refundable and subject to the supplier's own terms.
Payment
- Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise specified.
- We accept Visa and MasterCard and charge no service fee, though your card issuer may apply its own charges.
- Customer payments are held in a dedicated client money trust account until your booking is completed or cancelled.
